PHILLIES TO ‘SIGN’ BILLY JOEL BEFORE SUMMER STADIUM GIG

You cannot say the “City of Brotherly Love” and Billy Joel haven’t been enjoying a 45-year-bromance. The Philadelphia Phillies and Live Nation announced that Billy will receive an “honorary contract” from the team prior to his July 27th gig at Citizens Bank Park in commemoration of the “Piano Man” performing his fifth straight — and seventh overall — gig at the Philly ballpark. Billy will receive an honorary contract — previously only bestowed on players and coaches — from Phillies Vice President and General Manager Matt Klentak and Phillies Manager Gabe Kapler.

Phillies Executive Vice President David Buck said in a statement: “Billy Joel continues to have the honor of performing more concerts at our ballpark than any other artist. . . We could not be more excited to have him part of this franchise and we look forward to what will undoubtedly be another great concert for our fans!”
