Thanks to a generous donation from Happy Valley Improv, Schlow has recently added a collection of more than 20 books and resources related to improvisational theatre. Schlow is hosting a free kickoff event to launch the new “Happy Valley Improv Collection.” “An Evening with Happy Valley Improv” begins at 6 p.m. Thursday, October 25, in Schlow’s Downsbrough Community Room. The evening includes a workshop where those in attendance can have fun playing improv games and learn more about the art form. The evening also includes an improv show with a literary twist and where those who participated in the workshop are invited to participate in the show. “Since we started the company, we knew that we wanted to be community-focused,” says Nate Rufo, one of the founders of Happy Valley Improv. “We think we live in a special place here in Central PA and we want to be integrated into it. Schlow is a central part of this State College community. Libraries are still vital and important in this day and age, not only as spaces that hold books but also as community center. “We also want to provide avenues for further education about improv among our own student community, and so we had the idea to create a collection at Schlow.” For more information on Happy Valley Improv, visit happyvalleyimprov.com.
