Since 1949, the families of Bellefonte have celebrated the end of the school year with a children’s fair. This one-day event features food, games, activities, and entertainment for the whole family – and raises money for the community’s parks. This year the fair will be held on June 1st from 10:00 am – 3:00 pm at the intersection of Curtin and Armor streets in Bellefonte and it is the 70th Anniversary for the fair. We will be offering some special activities throughout the day to commemorate this amazing event and there will even be cake!
The Fair always takes its chances with the weather. Last year it was a beautiful day with no rain and provided the perfect weather for fair enjoyment. Fair attendees will be able to purchase food from the following: Canyon Pizza, Miller’s Shaved Ice, King’s Funnel Cakes, Scott’s Roasting, Culligan water, Brazilian Munchies, and Kiwanis ice cream. We will also have some new additions of Snyder Fries and Fried Vegetables, Rosie’s Pierogies, and the Weinerwagon.
The Adventure Crew 182 will assist with set-up of the fair as well as the Bellefonte High School Swim team will operate the games. State Senator Jake Corman provides one of the most popular attractions — the Moon Bounce. This year we will have additional fun at booths by Zion Community Church, Discovery Space Center, Lincoln Caverns, Krislund Camp, YMCA, Nittany Valley Sports Centre, Fish and Game Commission, Encore Farms, and many others.
We will also have a few special characters stopping by to greet everyone throughout the fair as well as Richard Benninghoff the Magician starting at 11:30am and the Grange Fair Queen will be strolling around to greet participants. The Master Gardeners of Centre County sale plants including those donated by Woodrings Floral Gardens and the Bellefonte Garden Club which offer a variety of items for the parents as well. The entertainment for the day includes many from our talented local groups. The performers are:
10:15am American Raiders Baton Corp
11:00am Hot Styles Dance Company
12:00pm Bellefonte Community Band
1:15pm The band “Sauce”
All of the proceeds from the Fair support the improvement of children’s facilities at Bellefonte parks. To date, the Bellefonte Sunrise Rotary Club has been able to help the Bellefonte Borough add playground equipment at the Teener League, Parkview Heights Park, Governor’s Park, help the YMCA replace the slide at Kepler’s Pool, and help with the installation of handicap accessible playground equipment at Governors’ Park.
The Bellefonte Sunrise Rotary Club is committed to the Bellefonte Children’s Fair and are eager to preserve the valuable tradition that many have grown to love. This event is a perfect family friendly entertainment that is visited by generations of families so please come join us on June 1st.
